Rishi Veda : The Art of Healing Facials

A good facial to me is so much more than a facial, apart from providing my skin some loving and caring, it has the ability to put me in a very meditative and deeply relaxed theta brain wave state, which adds a whole new dimension to the experience. The energy and technique of the facialist, the quality and the scents of the products used make up an overall healing experience, which is even more relevant now than ever before. I’ve recently had a pleasure to experience the magical facial done by the beautiful Madhavi of  Rishi Veda in London’s Mayfair.  A very skilled facialist , aroma therapist and  practitioner of the healing arts,  Madhavi is  beautiful, warm, knowledgeable and very passionate about bringing about the client’s positive changes on both emotional and physical level.  She mixes her own custom blends from purest, potent and natural ingredients tailored to the specific needs of her clients. Her aim is to provide each client with bespoke treatments and products which align their mind and body to honour the beauty within. She offers a range of personalised treatments that are created to bring you into a …

Meet The Founder : Alicia of Apothepurity

Dear lovelies, today I would love to introduce you to the beautiful Alicia, who is the founder of  Apothepurity, an amazing eco conscious apothecary company, whose  products I had a pleasure to experience recently and absolutely loved. Not only are the products  so nurturing and therapeutic , Apothepurity’s values are an example of what a conscious natural skincare brand should be : honest and transparent, sustainable, supporting local businesses, fully recyclable packaging and materials, zero waste  and supporting animal welfare. Alicia herself is an absolutely inspirational human being, who’s journey towards finding her calling and her brand is touching and beautiful. In this interview she shares her personal inspiration behind Apothepurity, her  journey towards finding her calling , her passion towards natural living and her future plans for this beautiful brand. I hope you will love it! What is your personal definition of beauty? This is actually a very personal question to answer for me. I have the word beauty tattooed on my wrist in my own handwriting from a time when I was young and wild, to remind me of exactly what it means to me. True beauty, to me, has …

Flower Essences and Fear of Flying

I just want to start by saying that I am a very nervous flyer and this article is not necessarily a review of Lotus Wei products generally ( this is a whole different article as they are amazing) , but how they have helped me to combat my fear . I have been a frequent flyer , flying over 20 times per year , for the last 20 years and can honestly say that in my case , flying often hasn’t helped me to feel less anxious, stressed and even panicky when I am boarding a plane. My  anxiety reaches its highest during turbulence, take off and landing, however I generally don’t feel comfortable throughout the whole flight , although most of the time I do try to control myself. My fear got the worst of me last March when me and my husband were flying from Mumbai to London on  a particularly turbulent flight ( 6 hours of turbulence) , by which point I almost lost control and no amount of champagne ( I am a non drinker ) or lavender essential …

Finding Balance with Essential Oils

When it comes to essential oils I have over the years learnt to use them  to help me relax, rejuvenate, calm, energise  and balance my body , mind and spirit , so much so that I now cant imagine myself not using them every day and loving their potent powers.  I love to use essential oils externally , even applying them as a perfume on my pulse points can change my mood almost instantly. Here I will talk about the emotional benefits of my favourite essential oils, as the beauty benefits of them are a whole different topic. Essential oils carry the essence of the plants in such a potent form that a single drop of essential oil can equal multiple teaspoons of the dried herb (for instance, 1 drop of peppermint oil equals more than 25 cups of peppermint tea and oils can be up to 70x more potent than their dried herbal form). And they can be used or applied in a multitude of ways and combinations to bring powerful results to your …

Stress on Beauty

I want to talk about stress.  Chronic stress, stress that is present within us every day  It seems that stress has overtaken our lives and we have accepted it, rushing through life without  stopping to notice anything else around us.  Stressing about things that don’t really matter that much . I am much better these days at dealing with stress and keeping calm in stressful situations, than I used to be a few years ago.  I have managed to learn how to better deal with stress  through my meditation and yoga practice. When I get stressed I always try to breathe and observe the situation from a distance. This helps me to act as a witness of a situation , rather than getting caught up in the emotion of it.  This approach has helped me to deal with many challenging situations in my life. As overwhelming as it seem and as hard as it is to believe, psychological stress is an illusion and it is just like any other thought. The events happen and our brain decide which …

The Energy of the Full Moon

When the moon is full, the sun shines its light upon the backside of the moon, and that  is why the moon is very bright and glowing in the sky. The energy of the full moon is supercharged and I love how it makes me feel. During this time I can feel myself motivated , having loads of energy and power and  I am usually full of great creative ideas during this time. It is a magical time for me and I try to use it to my advantage to a full extend. This is a time for healing, self- expression, empowerment and making our ideas come alive. If used correctly a full moon is a great time of positive opportunity . It can either increase positive energy or play havoc on our emotions , depending on our state of mind at the time . If you feel angry , you will be angrier and if you are happy you will for sure feel happier. Any type of energy will be intensified and we can use this opportunity for emotional or …

The Five Tibetans

I know that none of us ever have time for anything these days and that time is precious indeed. Living a fast paced life as we do, affects our stress levels, without us always realising it and in turn affecting every aspect of our health. I don’t always have time to do a full yoga lesson every day and when I am short on time I practice the ancient practice of the Tibetan Monks called  The Five Tibetans. These take around 20 min per day, relatively easy to do, easy to remember and can dramatically increase our physical strength and suppleness as well as mental vision. It is so energising and invigorating , I absolutely love doing this practice. It gives me energy , allows me to continue my yoga practice when I don’t have much time and helps to keep me centred. In 1985, a book called The Ancient Secret of Fountain of Youth written by Peter Kelder was published and which for the first time fully described an exercise  ‘youthing’ program. This program  has been used …
