Rishi Veda : The Art of Healing Facials

A good facial to me is so much more than a facial, apart from providing my skin some loving and caring, it has the ability to put me in a very meditative and deeply relaxed theta brain wave state, which adds a whole new dimension to the experience. The energy and technique of the facialist, the quality and the scents of the products used make up an overall healing experience, which is even more relevant now than ever before. I’ve recently had a pleasure to experience the magical facial done by the beautiful Madhavi of  Rishi Veda in London’s Mayfair.  A very skilled facialist , aroma therapist and  practitioner of the healing arts,  Madhavi is  beautiful, warm, knowledgeable and very passionate about bringing about the client’s positive changes on both emotional and physical level.  She mixes her own custom blends from purest, potent and natural ingredients tailored to the specific needs of her clients. Her aim is to provide each client with bespoke treatments and products which align their mind and body to honour the beauty within. She offers a range of personalised treatments that are created to bring you into a …

Healing Aloe and Charcoal Mask

Making healing , nourishing , moisturising  and beautifying masks out of natural organic ingredients is one of my favourite past times and this Aloe, Charcoal and Tea tree mask is so easy to make and is super toning and clearing and leaves the skin glowing and fresh looking. I absolutely love using charcoal and clay in skincare for its amazing detoxifying benefits , while adding aloe vera to it makes it very soothing and toning. Tea tree oil is great as an antiseptic for breakouts. Cocoa Creamy Bath Salts

Autumn months are a perfect time for an indulgent bath ritual as it is so warming, cozy and comforting. A good bath has the ability to take us to a place of deep relaxation and help to ease muscle aches, tension and cramps. During the colder month I looove to take baths almost every night and experiment with different bath salts and oils to put in it. Commercial soap products such as bubble baths or shower gels can have a drying effect and can be harmful to our skin. Using natural ingredients such as salts and oils is a great way to make sure that you get beautiful skin and healthy mind without using harsh chemicals. Epsom salts are different than traditional salts in that it is actually a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. These minerals have very powerful health benefits that can enhance the detoxification capabilities of the body. Epsom salt has beneficial properties that can soothe the body, mind and soul. Some of the countless health benefits include relaxing …

Flower Essences and Fear of Flying

I just want to start by saying that I am a very nervous flyer and this article is not necessarily a review of Lotus Wei products generally ( this is a whole different article as they are amazing) , but how they have helped me to combat my fear . I have been a frequent flyer , flying over 20 times per year , for the last 20 years and can honestly say that in my case , flying often hasn’t helped me to feel less anxious, stressed and even panicky when I am boarding a plane. My  anxiety reaches its highest during turbulence, take off and landing, however I generally don’t feel comfortable throughout the whole flight , although most of the time I do try to control myself. My fear got the worst of me last March when me and my husband were flying from Mumbai to London on  a particularly turbulent flight ( 6 hours of turbulence) , by which point I almost lost control and no amount of champagne ( I am a non drinker ) or lavender essential …

Finding Balance with Essential Oils

When it comes to essential oils I have over the years learnt to use them  to help me relax, rejuvenate, calm, energise  and balance my body , mind and spirit , so much so that I now cant imagine myself not using them every day and loving their potent powers.  I love to use essential oils externally , even applying them as a perfume on my pulse points can change my mood almost instantly. Here I will talk about the emotional benefits of my favourite essential oils, as the beauty benefits of them are a whole different topic. Essential oils carry the essence of the plants in such a potent form that a single drop of essential oil can equal multiple teaspoons of the dried herb (for instance, 1 drop of peppermint oil equals more than 25 cups of peppermint tea and oils can be up to 70x more potent than their dried herbal form). And they can be used or applied in a multitude of ways and combinations to bring powerful results to your …

Moon Balm

I totally believe that inner peace is the key to outer beauty and a good nights sleep can work absolute wonders on how we feel and look. I have noticed for a long time now the direct and instantaneous connection between the lack of sleep and the state of my skin. It looks dry and dull when I have not has my 7 hours peaceful seep. I have seen various sleep balms  being sold in the shops and although some of them are very nice, the truth is that it is so much easier and cheaper to make one yourself , than to buy one.   You can always adjust the essential oils and their quantities to suit your personal preference. This balm will also make a great gift . Lavender  and Bergamot oils are a natural antidepressants and have balancing and sedative oils working on calming the Central Nervous System.  They also help to release nervous tension, stress and anxiety, which are so relative in our busy and crazy modern lives. Chamomile essential oil has a very deep calming effect emotionally and mentally and is good for treating insomnia. The 3 oils …
