Rishi Veda : The Art of Healing Facials

A good facial to me is so much more than a facial, apart from providing my skin some loving and caring, it has the ability to put me in a very meditative and deeply relaxed theta brain wave state, which adds a whole new dimension to the experience. The energy and technique of the facialist, the quality and the scents of the products used make up an overall healing experience, which is even more relevant now than ever before. I’ve recently had a pleasure to experience the magical facial done by the beautiful Madhavi of  Rishi Veda in London’s Mayfair.  A very skilled facialist , aroma therapist and  practitioner of the healing arts,  Madhavi is  beautiful, warm, knowledgeable and very passionate about bringing about the client’s positive changes on both emotional and physical level.  She mixes her own custom blends from purest, potent and natural ingredients tailored to the specific needs of her clients. Her aim is to provide each client with bespoke treatments and products which align their mind and body to honour the beauty within. She offers a range of personalised treatments that are created to bring you into a …

Detoxifying Matcha and Charcoal Mask

A new year for many people means a fresh start.  A fresh start not only to our health but also to the way you take care of your skin.  Incorporating a mask into the skin care regime is a great place to start. This incredible mask  is packed with antioxidants, minerals and active ingredients that will help to clear your skin of toxins and grime while nourishing and clearing it at the same time. It will also help to minimize the pores.  Activated Charcoal – Activated charcoal is well known for its highly absorbent properties. It can absorb up to 200 times its dry weight. It is already used to absorb poisons in the body so when applied to the skin, it will suck out all of the dirt and grime from your pores. Manuka Honey Magic Face Treatment

About once a week I make myself a beautiful spicy manuka mask, while I am taking a long , warm, healing bath. This is one of my favourite rituals. I absolute love baths and while applying a mask, the heat from the bath opens my pores , making the mask work more effectively. Manuka honey has amazing healing and anti-bacterial  properties. It offers amazing anti viral, anti microbial and anti bacterial health benefits and can be used to boost the immune system to fight off illnesses and improve skin conditions.   It is a specialist honey, and to see the benefits you need to get the proper stuff (not all honey is created equal). It is very important to make sure that you’re getting the real deal. Proper Manuka honey comes from New Zealand, and will have a UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) rating of 10+ or more on its label. The higher the number , the stronger the antibiotic effect. Cheaper imitations are likely to be less effective.  I always make sure that I buy organic , as I believe that it is better …

Cocoa Creamy Bath Salts

Autumn months are a perfect time for an indulgent bath ritual as it is so warming, cozy and comforting. A good bath has the ability to take us to a place of deep relaxation and help to ease muscle aches, tension and cramps. During the colder month I looove to take baths almost every night and experiment with different bath salts and oils to put in it. Commercial soap products such as bubble baths or shower gels can have a drying effect and can be harmful to our skin. Using natural ingredients such as salts and oils is a great way to make sure that you get beautiful skin and healthy mind without using harsh chemicals. Epsom salts are different than traditional salts in that it is actually a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. These minerals have very powerful health benefits that can enhance the detoxification capabilities of the body. Epsom salt has beneficial properties that can soothe the body, mind and soul. Some of the countless health benefits include relaxing …

Whipped Shea Face Balm

I absolutely love balms. I use them for face and body and sometimes when I travel and I don’t have time to plan which products to take, I just take one balm and use it for everything, from washing my face to removing make up to moisturising my body with it.  I am a total addict  and putting a balm on my face in the evenings feels so rejuvenating and meditative to me, making me feel so comforted and relaxed, knowing that I am taking care of my skin and mind. Choosing different butters, oils and botanicals is the best part, as they can be tailored to whatever effect and type of skin you want. Recently I have been trying out recipes that don’t require the use of wax, as they are generally softer  and lighter than the waxed ones. I can honestly say that this balm is one of the best balms I have ever made. Texture wise it is definitely the best and better than any shop bought one I have ever experienced. I have definitely enjoyed using …

Sugar Rose Lip and Face Scrub

When it comes to winter skincare , by the time its February my skin definitely needs extra loving and caring. Central heating, winds, the change of temperature can play total havoc with our skin . The skin on the lips is particularly vulnerable as   it doesn’t have any sebaceous glands -the glands that keep your skin moisturized. For me, lip scrubbing is a bit like flossing, I know its important to do but I forget to do it :). So I usually do it at the same time as scrubbing my face. This scrub takes about 5 min to prepare and can be stored in a jar for a few months. It can make an extra special DIY gift. I generally try to avoid sugar in my diet at all costs, however when it comes to beauty there are many benefits for skin ageing and I love to use it in the scrubs. It leaves my skin super soft and glowing. Sugar – One of the major benefits of sugar for your skin is that it maintains the oil balance. Sugar …

Detoxifying Charcoal Face Mask

So I have already written a few articles on the benefits of activated charcoal. I love this wonder ingredient that has in the last few years got a lot of attention in the natural beauty industry for its great properties when used on the skin, although it has been used as a body detoxifying ingredients for many years. It draws out the impurities and unwanted toxins from the skin , can help to reduce inflammation and tighten the pores. Bentonite clay is another great ingredient for detoxifying the skin. It  is truly is a unique clay due to its ability to produce an “electrical charge” when hydrated. Upon contact with fluid, its electrical components change, giving it the ability to absorb toxins. Bentonite is known for its ability to absorb and remove toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals. Yogurt contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that dissolves dead skin cells. This gentle exfoliation not only helps to create a natural glow and prevent breakouts, but works to diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles. When topically applied to the skin, a …
