Stimulating and Detoxifying Tea

Spices have great healing powers and the herbal wisdom offers us remedies that increase our vitality by improving our digestion. Our bodies spend a tremendous amount of time digesting the food we eat. This is why  a heavy meal leaves us feeling fatigued and sleepy, as all the energy goes into digesting the food. Not being able to digest properly will leaves us feeling fatigued and more susceptible to chronic ailments including  allergies, PMS and nutritional deficiencies. Improving our digestive capacity supports the general wellbeing and make us feel  more vibrant and energetic.

This is a great recipe for stimulating the digestive fire and have a general detoxifying properties. I love to sip it throughout the day as I feel like I am doing something good for myself , even when I don’t have time to do anything else. Its is also great do drink after a meal .

Cumin enkindles the digestive fire, promotes healthy absorption, helps digest natural toxins, promotes a comfortable post-meal feeling.                 herbs-spices

Fennel has anti-spasmodic properties and  it also stimulates the production of gastric juices. It’s useful for gastrointestinal and menstrual cramps, heartburn, diarrhea, colic, stomach aches, and indigestion experience.

Ginger has a powerful carminative effect which means that  it can cleanse and heal the digestive tract. Ginger tea is very effective in awakening sluggish digestion in the morning.

Fennel is also a great anti-spasmodic herb and it stimulates the production of gastric juices.

Cloves have many great properties. They are stimulant and are useful in counteracting spasmodic disorders. They also help to stimulate circulation and promote digestion and metabolism.

Cinnamon supports bile secretion , critical for digestion and absorption of fats and  fat soluble vitamins.

1 litre water

3/4 tbs cumin seeds

1 tbs coriander tea

1 tbs fennel seeds

2 slices fresh ginger

1/2 tsp black peppercorns

3 cloves

1 cinnamon shard

Method

Boil all the ingredients together for 5-7 min and leave to seep for another 5 minutes. Strain the spices and pour into a teapot. Drink throughout the day.
